Baby

Each month at Pregnancy & Newborn, I created a baby fashion shoot that was 4-6 pages. I developed the overall concept, pulled in samples just like I did for the adult models, and imagined how the shoot would come together. Most were, quite frankly, a way to showcase cute clothes and items from advertisers that our sales team dropped off in the fashion closet. .

But sometimes, I was absolutely inspired.

Working with baby models is interesting. There’s no professional skill set that a six-month-old brings to the table, but you still need to find talent that can sparkle on the page — and preferably won’t spit up on the clothes.

 Absolutely Inspired

Inspired by classic children’s books, I worked closely with a photographer who was a master at set design and photoshop to create beautiful imaginary settings.

 Baby’s First Birthday

This feature allowed us to showcase baby fashions, clothes for moms, advertising product placements, and helpful party planning tips for moms. It was a logistical challenge and baby wrangling Ph.D. program.

Ice, Ice Baby

Winter holiday fun with more special occassion styles for babies of varied ages. By this time, I had figured out that multiple babies who only needed to appear in one or two shots on the day was the best way to get these done with a minimum of tears from everyone.
